Reduce Injuries with Proper Stride and Strike
Context: Stride length and foot strike are associated with injury risk. How can the risk be reduced? 15 runners studied.
Results:
Shorter strides associated with fore and mid foot strike
Longer strides associated with rear foot strike
Fore and mid foot strikes reduced impact
Longer strides increased vertical and horizontal impact
Conclusion: Reducing stride length and landing on fore or mid foot reduces ground impact thus suggesting a decrease in injuries.
